“Musicians who normally back indie artists such as Andrew Bird, Sufjan Stevens and Persephone’s Bees use their talents to form a wedding band, which will burn through reception standards by Chuck Berry, James Brown and Sly Stone.” – Time Out Magazine
A rare wedding band that is actually a band, The Affections are good friends and frequent musical cohorts within the Brooklyn music scene.
- They cover classics you love that aren’t being played into the ground at every other wedding.
- They dig into faithful renditions of fun songs by your favorite bands- as long as your favorite bands aren’t The Black Eyed Peas, The Kooks, or that one that wrote Macarena.
At a recent wedding they could be heard seamlessly transitioning between The Rolling Stones, James Brown, Michael Jackson, and MGMT. Check them out – The Affections are truly a different kind of wedding cover band.
This Brooklyn cover band rocks weddings. With a set list that includes Sly Stone, Michael Jackson, The Rolling Stones, Prince, Chuck Berry, and many more, this talented group of multi-instrumentalists avoids the over-played, cliched material that has so often fallen on wedding guests’ ears. This is the live band for couples seeking a no-nonsense wedding dance party.
The Affections is typically booked as a 6-piece band, including bass, drums, keys, 2 guitars, and a dedicated vocalist. Almost everyone in the band sings, and they trade off on lead vocals all night.
As wedding music duties go, The Affections cover every aspect. Their diverse set list allows them to reach a cross-generational group of guests, and they tune their sound appropriately, whether it’s dinner music, or the later dancing sets.
The option for ceremony and cocktail hour music is built in. The Affections can pare down and do acoustic numbers early in the evening, and one of their vocalists can even play ceremony violin for special requests.
